Halla is a human druid, and Gilnoruil is a dragon-blood tiefling sorcerer. They met one night when Halla was enjoying a drink at the Elfsong tavern in Baldur’s Gate, and when stepping out for a breath of fresh air, she saw him stumbling around the alleyway covered in blood. Gilnor had no memory of anything before that moment, save his name and what he was. She took pity on him and took him in, the pair coming to fall in love after a few months.
And then the Mind Flayers took them.
After somehow managing to escape the Nautiloid that had abducted them, although not before the Mind Flayers infected them with their tadpoles, Halla and Gilnor race to find a cure. They are joined by a collection of other victims, including a pale elf by the name of Astarion. Their adventure unfolds deeper plots, and more mysteries about Gilnor’s bloody past. Halla begins to fall for Astarion, seeing some similarities between him and her lover. Gilnor is strangely okay with this, and realises later down the line that he too is starting to feel things for Astarion…

Halla is a druid raised among a family of druids. They are part of no official circle, but revere the Tree-Father all the same. She lives in a small cottage in one of the rural provinces outside the city of Baldur's Gate, where she tends her bees and makes homemade honey.

Gilnoruil's life is a black hole - his memories of all except his name lost to some traumatic event that he can't recall. Stumbling around one night outside the Elfsong tavern, covered in blood that is mostly not his own, he comes across a kind woman; Halla Grimbear. In seeing his distress, she tries to heal him and despite the potential danger she takes him in. He learns that he likes music, is skilled at many instruments and in singing, as well as spellcraft and swordsmanship. He and Halla become close. And yet something looms... A darkness that sometimes wakes in the night, leaving him standing above mutilated animal corpses with no idea how, or why.
